  • CPUbuddy

What is the purpose of CPUbuddy? CPUbuddy attaches running applications on Windows PCÂ?s with more than one CPU or core and defines one or more CPUÂ?s to this process. Advantages of CPUbuddy? Of course you could do the same with the Windows Taskmanager by right clicking the desired process and then click on set affinity, but you would have to do the same thing every time the program is started or after Windows has started, because Windows does not remember theses settings. With CPUbuddy you could do all this in the background, just stat CPUbuddy and use your programs as ususal. Some programs consume lots of CPU resources, producing heavy load while they are running, like audio- and video-converting tools, CAD or virtual machines (at this time only VMware virtual machines are supported). Set dedicated CPUÂ?s to those programs and your system reacts faster, though itÂ?s working. Try to get most out of your CPUÂ?s though the PC is still responding quickly. Some programs set CPU usage by their own (like DivX-Converter => CONVERTER.EXE) always to CPU 0. If many programs with heavy load run on the same CPU your machine does not respond adequate, though CPU usage in total is low. No Problem with CPUbuddy it looks every few seconds, if the process still runs on defined CPUÂ?s, if not cerrects it suddenly. CPUbuddy is not a tuning tool. In few cases you will get a performance boost. It is designed to keep your system responding to you. This is a point when you are running mission critical applications. When setting CPU affinity and dedicate CPUÂ?s to a process you still can rely on your mission critical applications, though other time- and CPU-intensive programs run on the same machine, even at peak times. In many cases you can get most out of your resources. Instead work serialized, work parallel. Instead using 5% CPU, use 50% CPU, though the machine is still responding. With CPUbuddy you can see CPU-Total-Load at a glance, interested in CPU-Load of a single process, click the desired program on the left side of the main window and watch CPU-load for the current process. So you are able to quickly find out whose programs consumpt lot of load and put them to the watchlist, assigning dedicated CPUÂ?s automatically.
